Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Police then found many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.
A senior political figure said the attack rendered him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
